Now I know you’re going to agree with me on this one: everyone and I mean everyone went to Portugal in 2023! From family vacations and weddings to post-grad destinations and gap years to literally you name it — for some reason or another Portugal welcomed a huge influx of travelers this year. While I still have yet to visit, the lively markets, Moorish influence, and intricate craftsmanship that made you fall in love with Portugal can in fact be found elsewhere — and that elsewhere is Morocco. A historical connection dating back to the Age of Exploration intertwines the two countries together, as Portugal played a significant role in maritime exploration, establishing trade routes and connections with Morocco and other North African regions.
