In late April of 2024, I traversed the city during a cold front with daily high temperatures ranging from 50-58°F, so even if your heart is singing with thoughts of a sunny spring check the forecast because you may be better off bundled up with gloves and a scarf!

An average of 11 rainy days means that while you can expect some showers, there will also be plenty of dry, sunny days to enjoy the city's outdoor attractions. Rainfall is usually light to moderate, but a sudden downpour is always a possibility—and there’s usually accompanying gusty winds through the arrondissements that blow these droplets around.

That being said, you’re better off bringing a waterproof trench coat even if the forecast looks clear when planning what to pack for Paris in April; an umbrella is another good idea, but it’s easier to purchase a cheap one from a street vendor if the need arises.

The amount of daylight increases significantly in April, with the sun rising around 7:00 AM and setting close to 8:30 PM. This more than 12-hour day gives you ample time to explore the city's sights. The extended hours are accompanied by varying temperatures, so be prepared to add on layers during the early morning and late afternoons. Needing five outfits for my 3 days in Paris plus Champagne day trip from Paris, I figured flouncy dresses and gracefully feminine skirts would be the easiest pieces to fit in my carry-on .

On the first day of admiring Impressionist masterpieces in the Musée d'Orsay, I looked to reflect the abstract strokes of these canvases wearing:

• Halterneck Tie Long Sleeve Top from NA-KD ($10.49)

  • Adding visual interest to ensure my what to wear in Paris in April outfit remained artistic from head to toe, I wore a neutral top with an unconventional silhouette to complement my busy skirt without becoming too outlandish. This white top was the perfect fit, flattering my neckline with an off shoulder look featuring cut out detailing.   • Briefly pictured, these mimic trendy Adidas Sambas but are distinct enough that they’ll outlast the current fad—meaning I can wear them from one season to the next without looking outdated. While I did listen to my own advice and wear jet black flats with every other outfit, this particular ensemble felt complete with a pop of color!

• Small Woven Crossbody bag from Ligne Blanche ($120)

  • Made of a lightweight neoprene material—large enough to fit all my loose items, while secure enough with a magnetic clasp shutting the interior to thwart Paris pickpockets.

On my second day tasting the aged grapes of Veuve Clicquot, I went with a colorway that felt quintessentially Paris—that is, Paris imagined by a black and pink poodle tween bedroom!

  • I set out to Melrose Trading Post with the intent of securing two dresses for my upcoming trip, and immediately found what I was looking for at the first booth! I immediately fell in love with this midi silk striped dress with dainty black lace, scalloped detailing, and an asymmetrical slit. The tie-back has an open keyhole with each dainty element coming together to form the most perfectly girly dress I’ve ever laid eyes on. Since they brand doesn’t list much online, you can find a simpler version of this style above.

• Jet Black Baylen Ballet Flats from Steve Madden ($59.97)

  • The feminine ankle ribbon ties create a ballet-inspired look while the grommet hardware straps add an edgy punk element to create one of the most interesting, contrasted flat designs I’ve ever seen.

• Waterproof Virgin Mary Pendant from London Manori, Tiny Pearl Station Necklace from Mejuri ($98)

  • My usual gold luxe jewelry stack.

My third day dining on delicate desserts and admiring more artwork in the Louvre was spent wearing another flouncy ruffled ensemble, this time as a completely neutral look:

  • A chiffon, transparent material and tie front adorned with a clip-on rose appliqué. The lightweight material and ruffles feel effortlessly elegant while the asymmetrical sleeves and tie details glide behind gracefully. While this top is cropped, the loose, wide silhouette means it can also be worn as a camisole over a tank—which I opted to do on this chilly spring day.

• Black Fine Knitted Bandeau Top from NA-KD ($13.49)

  • This cropped stretchy bandeau top is finely knit into a form fitting shape with a metallic, removable asymmetric brooch on the chest. When worn as an individual piece the brooch adds visual interest, but in this case it served as the attachment point for the blouse’s clip-on silk rose!

• Pleated Chiffon Midi Skirt from NA-KD ($35.99)

  • With a largely neutral look on top, the base of my outfit added eye-catching detail via the abstract wavy pattern. This midi skirt features an elastic waistband with a pleated form and flowing fit. My fourth day strolling the mirrored halls of the Palace of Versailles called for an equally opulent outfit, and thus I grabbed the following pieces from my carry-on:

  • Features a pleated silk cream skirt and ruched detailing on the square neckline which included a suede bow tie and three ivory buttons. This classic style was another piece that screamed Paris when I saw it, embodying the polished, elegant look perfect for this city. • Adalynn Heart Drop Earrings in Ivory Mother-of-Pearl from Kendra Scott ($104.97), Lock It Up Gold Plated Necklace from Princess Polly ($45)

  • Once again, my Steven Madden jet black flats were my chosen footwear for the day, plus I added a sweet heart motif throughout my jewelry stack.

My final day was spent admiring the artists of bohemian Montmartre, and entailed another black and white outfit with a classic silhouette and heritage pattern:
